Do I need to issue e-invoices for my GatherPlate bookings?
Most caterers do not. LHDN currently exempts businesses with annual turnover below RM3 million from e-invoicing, and an exempt business does not need e-invoices for its sales through GatherPlate.
If you do need them, because your turnover is above the threshold or you issue e-invoices for all your sales, tell our team at [email protected]. We set your account up so GatherPlate issues them for you.
How does it work once I am set up?
GatherPlate issues a self-billed e-invoice on your behalf for each booking. It records your sale to GatherPlate, so you never issue one to us yourself. This is the arrangement LHDN sets out for sales made through an e-commerce platform.
Alongside it, we issue our own e-invoice to you for GatherPlate's commission on that booking.
Both are issued when your final payment for the booking is released, and validated by LHDN through MyInvois.
Should I issue my own e-invoice to GatherPlate?
No. Once you are set up, please do not issue your own e-invoice to GatherPlate for these bookings. The sale would then be recorded twice.
What details do you need from me?
Your tax identification number (TIN), your SSM registration number (or IC number for a sole proprietor), your MSIC industry code, and your business address with its state.
Once your account is set up, these appear under E-invoicing (LHDN) on your Profile page in the vendor dashboard. If you do not know your TIN, press Find TIN after entering your registration number and we will look it up with LHDN. Saving checks the TIN and registration number together with LHDN, and the industry description is filled in from LHDN's own list of MSIC codes.
Until the details are complete, your dashboard shows a reminder and no e-invoices can be issued.
What amounts do the e-invoices show?
The self-billed e-invoice shows the full value of what you sold on that booking: the food, your own delivery or service charges, and SST if you charge it.
The commission e-invoice shows GatherPlate's fee for the booking. The difference between the two is the amount we pay out to you.
If a booking was partly refunded, the self-billed e-invoice shows what you kept. A booking refunded in full has no e-invoices, because nothing was sold.
How do I receive them?
We email you once LHDN has validated both, with a PDF of each attached and links to view them on MyInvois. You can download the PDFs again from the booking's page in your vendor dashboard, and both also appear in your own MyInvois account.
A customer asked for an e-invoice. Do I need to do anything?
No. When a customer requests an e-invoice for a booking, GatherPlate issues it to them directly. It names GatherPlate as the supplier, as LHDN requires for platform sales, and you do not need to issue anything to the customer.
Can I get e-invoices for bookings from before I was set up?
Yes, for bookings that have already been paid out. Ask our team at [email protected] and we can issue them.
Something on an e-invoice is wrong. What should I do?
Contact [email protected] as soon as you notice. LHDN allows an e-invoice to be cancelled within 72 hours of validation, and we reissue a corrected one. If your registration details have changed, update them on your Profile page first.
